About me
Stephanie Grandon
I am a design graduate with a background in Interior Design and Textiles, having studied Interior Design for two years at the University of Salford before completing an undergraduate degree in Textiles at the University of Derby. My work explores the relationship between space, material, and surface, combining creative thinking with strong technical skills.
I have experience producing detailed drawings and physical and digital models, with confident use of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite across both 2D and 3D design. My textiles practice includes hands-on experience in dyeing, printing, knitting, and weaving, alongside digital printing and material development. This combined background has given me a strong understanding of materials, technical specifications, and design requirements, which informs my approach to contemporary interior and surface design.
Experience through education
Textiles Graduate
Throughout my Textiles and Interior Design course, I developed a strong balance of creative, technical, and practical skills, with hands-on experience across both digital and traditional textile processes. I worked confidently with CAD and AutoCAD to develop and refine design concepts, alongside specialist systems such as Shima Seiki for knit design and programming. My practical experience includes working with Domestic and Dubied knitting machines, digital printing, screen printing, and Jacquard techniques. I also explored surface pattern and colour through fabric dyeing methods, including resist dyeing and immersion dyeing, allowing me to experiment with texture, pattern, and depth of colour. This course strengthened my ability to translate ideas from initial concept through to final textile outcomes using industry-relevant tools and processes.
Some of my work
Examples of where I have used different skills and techniques.
Working From Home
This was my FMP based off the effects COVID-19 had on our work life and the commute to and from work being apart of your home office to create a space that separates home and work life.
Gen-Z Hotel
This was a second year project I did at The University Of Salford while I was on the Interior Design course. This project was based inspired by Gen-Z and what they might want in a hotel room and the rising trends of bringing nature inside and combining these ideas to create a modern hotel.
Harlequin
Inspired by the show Mitford madness, we were given a brief to design a collection that would fit in with the brand Harlequin, I took inspiration from the wallpapers and nature that was all over the show.

ETC Collaberation
Our university got an amazing chance to work with a local brand called Everything To Cycle. and were tasked to design a collection that would be suited for their cliental. I based mine off office workers commuting to work via cycling and gathered inspiration from that.
